Mr. Lu Wei is the Director of the Executive Office of the Central Leading Group of Cyberspace Affairs and Minister of the Cyberspace Administration of China. He is a senior journalist and expert receiving the State Council’s special allowance. Since 2001, he has successively held the posts of the member of Xinhua News Agency’s CPC Leading Group, Secretary General and Vice President, the member of the Standing Committee and head of the Publicity Department of CPC Beijing Committee, and Deputy Mayor of Beijing Municipal People's Government.
In April 2013, he was appointed as the Minister of State Internet Information Office, and took his incumbent position in April 2014. With rich field experience and profound theoretical basis, he is the founder of China’s mobile phone newspaper and the official website of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China. After joining the Cyberspace Administration of China, he proactively promoted the idea of governing cyberspace, providing Internet services and surfing the Internet in accordance with law for bringing more positive energy on the cyberspace, and put forward a seven-point consensus at ICANN 50 in London as an important basis for international cyberspace governance.
